These are Scratch and Dent or Blemished Beds
They still pass out flatness inspection, but they just don't look as good as we would like for our regular grade of product. Save a few bucks and still get a incredible bed plate.
These cast aluminum 3D printer beds make for a superior print bed, far exceeding what comes standard on most consumer 3D printers in terms of flatness, rigidity and stability.
This bed plate offers the following features
-Thermistor slot in the top to allow the end user to glue in a thermistor to measure the actual bed temperature near the build surface. This slot will cause no problems with the print surface and it commonly done on some high end corexy printers and commercial grade 3D printers.
-An additional 15mm on the back edge of the bed to allow for attachment of cable clamps, cable drag chains. In this bed extension there are 3 sets of M3 holes 25mm apart for the clamps or drag chains to attach to.
-Build surface stop pins have been added via two tapped holes in the bed extension and screws that are included with the bed. These allow you to bump your magnetic build surface sheet up against them before lowering it on to the magnetic surface. This provides a more consistent placement of your magnetic build surface with ever use.
-New quality M4 mounting hardware is included with each bed, included with this is 4 M4 flat head screws, 4 flat washers and 4 nuts so you can rigidly attach the mounting screws so they do not spin when used with leveling knobs.
-Compatible with the 3 point leveling system from West Coast Robotics
As delivered this is a bare cast aluminum bed that will require you to provide a heater (if you want a heated bed) and a print surface to print on. Most common heaters are either an adhesive silicone heater pad or the factory heated bed. The factory heated bed sandwiched onto this bed plate is the least ideal but has worked for some customers. For build surfaces the most common is to use an adhesive bed-side magnet and spring steel plate system, like the Wham-Bam system. Alternately you could apply an adhesive build surface, like Build tack or PEI, directly to this bed.
These beds are made from cast aluminum tooling plate with the top and bottom surfaces left untouched (mill finish). This means occasionally there can be some small marks on the surface from material handling. Nothing significant, but still visually noticeable. This is just normal condition for the material. We do everything we can to deliver a visually appealing product to our customers but we can't prevent what happened before we buy our raw material.

Flatness - We typically see under 0.003" on our finished product. We do not ship anything exceeding 0.005" in X and Y directions when checked with a precision straight edge.
